An extraordinary journey in wine…world class wines of undeniable excellence

It’s a tough job, but someone has to do it! Jeff, Virginia, Chris, Greg and I piled in to our cars with our fabulous videographer in tow to capture the story of Craggy Range, a winery that we have been completely in love with since we first began selling them in 2000.

It all began for Craggy Range in 1997, coincidentally the same year the Fine Wine Delivery Company was born. Steve Smith, MW and specialist viticulturist has twice been named in the 50 most influential people in the world of wine. His skill and passion made him the ideal fit for the Peabody family who had been searching 10 years for the perfect place and people to fulfil their dream of making some of the best wine in the world.

Two days of filming focusing on the Hawkes Bay home of Craggy Range, gave us an even more in-depth understanding and appreciation of just how huge their contribution is to the future of NZ wine. Their world-class wines are garnering massive recognition bringing international focus to this very important and special region.

We started our journey in the famed Gimblett Gravels region. Our interviews and tastings with Senior Winemaker, Rod Easthope uncover what is so special about this unique corner of the Hawkes Bay.

Enjoy Part 1 of the Craggy Range Experience…

Picture this (even better view the attached pictures)! Thursday evening 5.30pm…end of another crazy day at The Fine Wine Delivery Company. Tasting wines, rejecting the boring faulty samples (circa 2 of every 3 we taste) then unleashing all of my emotions and creativity searching for new adjectives to scribe reviews that passionately describe how I feel about every 3rd wine that excites and earns its place among our portfolio deemed suitable for our customers…hell I’m exhausted but very satisfied with my days work.

Pinot Noir – Fashion or Fad?

A fantastic article on Pinot Noir in Wine Business Monthly by Misha Wilkinson, owner of Misha’s Vineyard in Central Otago. One of the most spectacular vineyards in the region, they are harvesting just their 4th vintage this year.  Already producing gorgeous, exciting wines, the future is very bright for this wonderful winery.

Along with owning Misha’s Vineyard (with husband, Andy) and all the incredible amounts of work that brings, Misha also keeps a firm finger on the pulse of what is happening in the world of wine. Contributing to Wine Business Monthly, Misha has addressed, very well, the question - Pinot Noir fashion or fad.

It a very interesting read for any Pinot Noir lover, or anyone just generally interested in the wine industry.  Enjoy and feel free to put your two cents worth in as well.
