Robert Parkerâs 2009 Bordeaux scores now released
âIn short, 2009 is the greatest vintage I have tasted in Bordeaux since 1982, of which it is a modern-day version, but greatly improved.â
This week Robert Parker released his scores for what he considers the greatest Bordeaux vintage in the past 50 years. This will likely be your last opportunity to purchase some of the best wines of the vintage, all wines below have scored 94-100 points from Robert Parker
It is with great delight that I offer you the legendary wines of Chateau Cos dâEstournel;
six vintages back to 1986.
Hi From Matt
When I passed the Master of Wine tasting exam in 1998, the red wine paper featured five vintages of Cos dâEstornel from 1989 to 1993 and I correctly identified the wines as coming from a âsecond growth Medoc estateâ. After tasting several recent vintages last week at dinner with Jean Guillaume Prats, President and Director General for Cos dâEstournel, I am in now in no doubt that Cos is without doubt the leading estate in St-EstĂ©phe, clearly making First Growth-quality wines, some of the greatest wines of Bordeaux today.
Hi from Matt,
Considered by some to be the most significant event benchmarking Bordeaux Chateaux since the original 1855 classification, last week Robert Parker lead a Grand Tasting of what he describes as âThe Magical 20″ â twenty Bordeaux Chateau that he considers to be of âFirst Growth Qualityâ. As Parker said where the tasting was held; âI have chosen estates that produce wines of first growth quality, although technically not first growths. Consequently, they are under-valued and very smart acquisitions.â
